Smith cre­ated and they writ­ten by dif­fer­ent ghostwriters.

Stefan’s Diaries by LJ Smith

Set in the same uni­verse as in The Vam­pire Di­ar­ies, Stefan’s Di­ar­ies rep­res­ents the pre­quel for The Vam­pire Di­ar­ies and tells us be­gin­ning of Stefan and Damon’s vam­pire lives, their early years as hu­mans and their af­fair with Kath­er­ine, the vam­pire wo­man who turned their lives up­side down.
